If you had ever told me that I would launch a new novel with Al Roker, Deborah Roberts, Andie MacDowell, Annabelle Gurwitch, Paula McClain, and John Searles… Well, I would never have believed it! But yesterday was the incredible Post & Courier Book and Author Luncheon and my very first event EVER for SUMMER STATE OF MIND!
My sweet husband showed up at the house at 11 am on Thursday to surprise me and drive me to Charleston, and we had dinner with Paula Mclain, Patti Callahan Henry, John Searles, Signe Pike, Polly Buxton—the fabulous owner of Buxton Books!—at FIG. Then we got up early and headed to do a quick, fun interview on Palmetto Live, which you can watch if you want!
Then was the incredible luncheon, which felt like it was over in a flash and then… Back home to do my Beaufort brunch tomorrow to talk all about SUMMER STATE OF MIND!
This book, at its heart, is about the ties that shape us, the friendships that hold us together, the choices that change us, and the quiet, brave moments where we decide who we’re going to be next. Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads you didn’t expect… and realized it might be exactly where you were meant to be?
If so, I think this story might feel a little like home.
