I hope you had an amazing weekend! I had a blast in New York! (How could you not, really?) We squeezed in plenty of shopping and great eating, but, mostly, it was a “work” trip. I use the word work loosely because I love it so much I can’t believe I can even call it that.
I adore New York, and I used to get so sad when I had to leave and imagine how fabulous it would be if I lived there. But I’m realizing now that, while I still love it, I’m happy to come back home to my boys and my tiny town with no traffic and lots and lots of sunlight!
I met with the publicity team at Berkley, and I’m excited and a little shocked to tell you that we already have a good number of tour dates set up for LIES AND OTHER ACTS OF LOVE! Can you believe it? I’ll be updating my website soon to reflect all the info. April 5, launch day, seems far away, but it will be here before we know it. They have so many fun plans for this book, and it made me even more excited–if that’s possible. To say I used to lie in bed at night and dream about going to New York and meeting with my publishing house is an understatement, so I’m still pinching myself every day!
Hanging out with my Tall Poppy Writer friends was definitely one of the highlights of my weekend! I was so lucky to have met the founder, Ann Wertz Garvin, author of The Dog Year and On Maggie’s Watch, at a writer’s conference. And she was the one that so graciously pulled me into the fold. I can’t really express my gratitude for these women and the support and knowledge and advice that they have shared over the past eight months or so. To say that publishing is a whole new world is kind of an understatement, so having these seasoned writers for advice has been invaluable.
I’m going to tell you lots more about these fantastic Tall Poppies this week, but, unfortunately, I’m tending to a sick little guy today, so I’m going to make some chicken soup… (Which is, believe you me, way more shocking than those April tour dates already being set up!)
Wishing you a wonderful day!
