Good morning, friends! Life is feeling a little like Grand Central Station over here. Isn’t it everywhere though, really? That’s good with me because I love Grand Central Station! I can’t believe DEAR CAROLINA will officially for sale in a few days! The pre-orders are pouring in, and it’s so exciting!! (If you want a personalized copy just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ve partnered with the fabulous Fiction Addiction store to make that happen.)
I had the distinct pleasure yesterday of speaking to a fantastic group of people about DEAR CAROLINA. It was, I might add, the very first time that I got to stand up in front of a crowd and talk about this book, talk about my journey to get there, talk about what this book is about. And I think it might have hit me while I was behind that podium, watching the faces of these fine people, that this is really happening.
And, though it didn’t seem like it at the time, when I hear myself telling the story of how it all fell into place… Well, it seems like nothing short of a Disney-worthy magical ride. In the moment, it was gut-wrenching, terrifying and oh so looooong. In retrospect, it all happened, as it was always going to, the way it was supposed to, in the timing it was supposed to.
Sort of like yesterday. It can be a little nerve-racking to get up in front of a bunch of people. I’m outgoing and all that, but I haven’t done any public speaking in a long time. But this group from SCETV was so engaged and so supportive and so enthusiastic. They laughed at all the right places, teared up during my reading, asked wonderful questions. The cherry on top was that my sweet husband somehow snuck away from his patients for a few minutes and surprised me. I’ll never be able to thank them for creating this perfect day for me! And, now, I can’t wait to do it over and over again!
I’m adding new tour dates every day, so I so hope I get to meet all of you in person! I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the book. Daddies always know best, don’t they?
Thanks so much, Andrea, for including me in Great Thoughts’s Mother’s Day Gift Ideas Post! Such an honor!
