Pretty Things and Witty Words

Happy Monday, friends! Did you have a good weekend? Were you happy with the Super Bowl results — or “the championship game” as little Will called it?
We had a great time watching the game and eating yummy Super Bowl food with some good friends. And their babies. There was something so fun about sitting around on a cold night and seeing these people that you love with their little ones. I think it’s what I thought being a grown up was going to be like. It’s not like we don’t do that often but maybe it’s just that Will is old enough now that I had a second to appreciate it! I love that these children of all ages are going to get to grow up together and learn together and change together… And get in trouble together. And hopefully always have each other’s backs. It’s almost as sweet as the Budweiser commercial with the horses finding the puppy…
Anyway, since we’re in a rental house right now while our house in on the market, we obviously haven’t done a whole lot to it. On the one hand, we’re enjoying living with just the basics, really pared down and not a lot of stuff. On the other hand, I spend a good chunk of my day looking at gorgeous design, so it’s tough for me not to have things just the way I want them!
I’m dreaming of getting back to a beautifully designed office surrounded by things that inspire me. (Although, when I can, I still go back to the old house and work at my pretty one there!)
This quote, “I adore pretty things & witty words” will definitely make the cut for my new office wall wherever it may be! I think that sums it up! We say it on Design Chic all the time, but there really is no substitute for living a life surrounded by things (and people!) you love. It isn’t about your house looking like the cover of a magazine or being on trend. It’s about creating a space that inspires you to be your best self. No matter your team, that’s always a win!

Speaking of winning… It’s the last day to enter to win a copy of Sonja Yoerg’s House Broken! If you haven’t entered yet, don’t forget. This one is a must read!

  • I agree totally Kristy! Glad you had a great weekend too, Superbowl would you believe became the ‘quiet moment’ in our weekend. We still had company over, but no party for us since we were exhausted by the time the game started (It was my little one’s last day for their musical). My husband and I love it too that we see our kids grow up with our friends kids, the only down-side ( if that ever is one) to that is I think none of them will ever be a ‘couple’ in the future since they pretty much see each other as brothers and sisters! Anyway, didn’t know too that your house was for sale, I’m sure it’s gonna be off the market real soon, living pared down for a while is kinda fun just like you said, uncomplicated, and sometimes, really just relaxing. 🙂

  • Kristy,
That is truly one of the treasures of raising a family around good friends. We are still very close friends with the people we raised our children along side. The “children” are now married adults and we’ve attended our son’s friend’s weddings and now baby showers. That history enriches life. Your super bowl party description reminds me so much of when our boys were young. Enjoy, my friend. It’s the best.
We were a little sad by the play that lost the Seahawks the game, but there’s always next year. 🙂
    xo,
    Karen

    • That’s so sweet, Karen! Love it! I think everything is more fun when you do it with friends.
