Love Always Wins!

Happy Monday, friends! Did you have a good weekend? We had a fun one. Let’s see… Little Will somehow picked up the term “wicked” over the weekend. So now everything is “wicked cool” and “wicked fast.” So there’s that… I’m thinking it could get old pretty quickly but if it’s a phase that lasts for a day or two it’s funny. And if I become “wicked Mommy,” we will have to have some words.

I don’t know about you, but I love Valentine’s Day! Maybe it’s because I really like hot pink. And flowers. And chocolate. Oh, man, do I ever love chocolate! And I have such fond memories of coming home from school and dumping my Valentine’s out onto the floor and going through all of them. And now, getting to do that again with Will is so much fun! Although, in the age of Pinterest, the game has definitely changed. It’s definitely less paper-Valentine’s-from-the-drugstore and more homemade-treats-that-take-a-week-to-make. I’m not super crafty. But, you know, we work it out.

My precious friend Maghon who always lets me use her adorable quotes has this one as a printable for Valentine’s Day! For $8. And she actually prints it for you so it looks that good. I find this price and service astounding and will be purchasing a few for family and friends. My hubby is harder to buy for, but, let’s face it, Valentine’s Day isn’t really about men anyway. And he likes red wine, so that’s pretty easy.

I’ve already gotten little Will these adorable heart marshmallows and lego candy and red and hot pink and white chocolate covered sunflower seeds from Dean & Deluca. They have the best stuff there! And, oh the Valentine’s books! We will be hitting the bookstore after school today to stock up. I love all those little “love” books!

Even if it is a holiday invented by Hallmark, I think it’s a nice one. Who doesn’t want to be reminded of how much they’re loved? Whether you’re into Valentine’s Day or way out, I hope you have the kind of day that reminds you that love always wins!

  • Yes, it’s right around the corner, isn’t it? It’s fun to come up with little things to make the day special, especially for little ones. Now that my kids are older, I don’t do as much decorating for it, but I still slip a little treat in their lunch bags. Oh, and I think I need pink & white m&m’s in a jar on the counter.
It sounds like you and your family will have a sweet day, in more ways than one!

  • Looks like you have it all under control! Have fun . It’s a day meant to be light, full of love and lots and lots of chocolates!!!!

  • Kristy,
Your memory of dumping out the school valentines and re-reading them did remind me of how fun that was. Overall, the holiday seems a little overblown at this point but I do love chocolate! I agree, maybe this holiday is more for women and children, men probably feel too much pressure, especially before they’re married. Mr. B always comes through with a special valentine card and See’s candy, my favorite.

    • That’s so sweet, Karen! It’s always the little things that mean the most.

  • True love always does win. What a great color and message. I love when you feature these.

Valentines day is a favorite of mine as well, it is the day my husband proposed. As for chocolate…do not get me started, for christmas I received 2 lbs of dark salted caramels. I have been trying not to consume them all in one sitting.

I hope you have a great week!

    • Awww! How sweet! Well then it is a really special day for you. Hope you and your hubby have a great celebration!
