Happy Birthday to Me!

I’m a big birthday person. Well, I used to be, anyway. Before I had Will it was my “birthday” for at least a month. Now things have shifted a little bit… So it’s more like a week! And, I can assure that, next year, when the big 3-0 hits, that month will be back!

I love country music (well, I love all kinds of different music…) so it’s so fitting that my little, teeny hometown is having a big ‘ole country concert tonight! I like to think it’s for my birthday… Anyway, somehow, Joe Nichols, Craig Campbell and Jon Pardi are performing right here in Kinston. Seems like a pretty fitting celebration. So I’m getting a little warm up here:

Afterwards, we’ll be celebrating with a dinner at Chef and the Farmer. The only bad part about being gone for the lion’s share of the summer is not getting to eat there every week! If you haven’t been, and you live anywhere nearby, or happen to be passing through, trust me, it’s worth the trip.

A little Tres Leches Cake…

And Bluberry BBQ flatbread. Here’s the recipe if you want to wow your kids at dinnertime tonight! We always have about 5 bottles of Vivian’s blueberry bbq sauce in the fridge… I wish I was exaggerating.

And, since it’s my birthday, I thought I might give a little gift to all of you, my sweet readers who have made the first month of this blog so much fun! I’m doing a giveaway for a set of these precious notecards from All She Wrote Notes!

  • Kristy,
Happy, happy! I’m with you, I love dragging out my birthday celebrations for as long as possible. I consider it a way to embrace aging!
Have a wonderful week of celebration.
    Karen

    • I love that, Karen! I’m totally embracing aging too 🙂 It’s better than the alternative!

  • Happy Birthday! My sister and I started having birthday months because we always used to mail our packages to each other too late. Now it’s just become a fun way to look for surprises and fun events (like concerts!) as part of our celebrations.
In that vein, I wish you a very Happy Birthmonth!

  • Woohoo Happy Birthday!!!!! You deserve all this music and great food and lots more Kristy!!! Enjoy your big 3-0, you’ve accomplished so much at such a young and fresh age, proud of you and happy for you! CHEERS!
