Dear Carolina Book Tour!

Hi, friends! I hope you are having an amazing Tuesday! I am actually back home today for the first time in a couple of weeks, and it’s nice to feel back in some sort of routine — even if it is only for a couple of days! We have had a ball so far traveling around and meeting readers. I think it’s what I’ve been looking forward to the very most! I was a little nervous about dragging little Will around for two weeks, but all was well. The one time in the entire two weeks that I found myself thinking I maybe shouldn’t have brought him was immediately followed by him falling asleep in the car holding my hand 🙂 It was so sweet! And it make me realize how tan he is already — and how disastrously pale I still am. I guess you don’t get much sun signing books… Thank goodness it’s almost Memorial Day weekend!

Georgia was amazing, and I was so humbled by all the people who came to the signings there. This is sweet Brittany and Jill at Avid Books in Athens. I adored them, and we had the best time chatting! Brittany is originally from Raleigh and came out to support a fellow NC girl. (And DEAR CAROLINA, of course!) Isn’t that just the sweetest thing ever??

My precious friend Maghon (from All She Wrote Notes!) came all the way to McIntyre’s in Chapel Hill to say hi. She is getting married next weekend, and I’m so excited for her!!

My sweet friend Lauren who I haven’t seen since college! And her adorable little one! He was so good. He didn’t peep the entire time. And my good friend and book blogger Donna Cimorelli went way out of her way to attend also, and it was so fun meeting “virtual” friends in person! I would have a picture, but the one I have is not the best. Note for next book tour: Concentrate on taking more/better pictures!

I spent the last night of the first leg of the Dear Carolina book tour at one of my favorite places, The Carolina Inn. I was all by myself, finishing up the edits on my next book, LIES AND OTHER ACTS OF LOVE, and I loved spending the evening on the patio, where I had spent so many wonderful nights, with a kale salad and a glass of wine. (Next note to self: I love kale, but maybe not that much. It was as if that salad kept growing…)

It seemed incredibly fitting that the place where the first leg of this tour ended, was the place that so many of my biggest dreams began. The University of North Carolina was where I truly learned to love writing. It is where I made some of the best friends of my life, met my husband, had times so carefree and fun that I knew even then few things would ever top them. I learned so much about who I was on that wonderful campus. (Although, I can assure when I was at student I never would have eaten by myself!)

It was a fun two weeks, but the fun is far from over! Thursday, May 21, I’m having a signing at the Greenville, NC Barnes & Noble. If you’re in the area, I would love it if you’d come by and say hi!

And then this Saturday, in between the Memorial Day fun, I’ll be at Beaufort Linen Company in Beaufort, NC from one until the bubbly runs out!

Thanks again to everyone for all of your support! And don’t forget to enter our giveaway for a $500 Shop Design Chic gift card!
